Cables Without A Cable Needle
This fully-captioned knitting technique video tutorial demonstrates how to do both 2-stitch (1x1) and 3-stitch (1x1x1) cables without a cable needle. No-cable-needle methods are shown for both right-leaning and left-leaning cables in both cases. Working cables without a cable needle allows for a smoother, faster cable-knitting experience, and helps the knitter gain a deeper understanding of the underlying structure of knitted cables.
This video shows the "rearrange first, knit second" no-cable-needle technique on a project with multicoloured, elongated-stitch cables to make it easy to follow how each stitch moves, but the technique is done exactly the same way with traditional cables worked in a single yarn. A brief discussion of how to use this techinique for any cable width is included at the end of the video as well.
